Web development portfolio – recent projects
A selection of some projects recently developed at m360 where I currently work
PHP & Database Driven Websites
I have created numerous PHP\MySQL database driven websites and portals and most sites in my portfolio usually feature a custom built CMS, Product Library or full e-commerce. Some of my projects feature more complex functionality including such as image upload and resizing, media and file management, output to CSV and PDF and custom functions for reusable code.
Collards Pet Food
A full e-commerce site for a new premium hypo-allergenic dog food. Featuring basket functionality and payment processing with SSL and on-site payment gateway.

Flash Projects
I have been involved with Flash as long as I’ve been a web developer. Although much of the more subtle animations and interactivity on websites I now try to implement with JavaScript or jQuery wherever feasible, I believe Flash is still the best tool – and will be for a long time – for creating more engaging and interactive websites, presentations or applications. More recently, I have been experimenting in real-time Flash 3D and have experimented with Mobile App development.
Manchester Business School Virtual Open Day
The MBS Virtual Open Day is an informative and interactive site targeted towards potential business students, especially those unable to attend the actual open day events. Working closely with MBS marketing and technical teams, I was responsible for the development and programming of the Virtual Open Day which included the creation of the 3D virtual scene, animation and fully functioning custom media player. The media player dynamically loads video, photo, audio, panoramic and text-based content from XML files.
The MBS virtual open day builds on the experience gained from our first virtual open day project for Nottingham Trent Uni

Our East Midlands Trains Microsite
A promotional microsite, in the form of an eZine sent to internal staff and stakeholders to promote EMT’s 3rd birthday which has been nominated for an internal comms award. I have developed eBrochure functionality from scratch in AS3, including page turning and navigation, rather than using many of the off-the-shelf or on-line ePublishing software. This allows me a lot more flexibility with the look and feel and features including a brief 3D intro and dynamically loaded zoomable images.

3D Projects
I often use 3D for various product and packaging visualisation, logo and banner designs or to enhance elements of existing projects.
Bullet Dodge
Based on the ‘bullet time’ sequence from The Matrix, the animation features ‘Flix’ a character intended to promote popcorn combos for a cinema chain. Techniques used include biped skinning and cloth simulation with deform meshes.
